The release date has been announced. Taken from the Kuju site:
European Release Date confirmed for Rail Simulator Surrey, UK, 20th August 2007 Leading publisher Electronic Arts and Rail Simulator Developments are proud to announce that their next generation train simulation – Rail Simulator – will be arriving at (work) stations all over Europe on October 5th, 2007.....
Also a very nice movie to acompany this!

As anyone remotely interested in the Kuju, or should I say EA release, the game is a relative disaster atm.
Taken from thier site:
Known Issues found in Rail Simulator Cannot exit the Route Editor without saving (although 'Undo' functionality is available) Shunt Signal LODs sometimes get mixed up No 'Delete Route' function AWS uis active in Simple Mode, while the cancel button Q is not Coal loading/unloading constantly working - Fix being tested Some wheel trucks go in the wrong direction on corners - Fix completed Jumping to external view, the arrow keys dont work until the mouse is moved Sound of rear engine on double ended trains is delayed compared to the front engine Passengers on platforms are affected by control mode used Mis-spelling of York on 'Up for the Cup' Scenario Automatic train numbering sometimes fails to load correct numbers Emergency Brake Button on 166 has eratic behaviour when pressed Train rocks from side to side while moving along the track Steam effects dont react to train controls Trains can sometimes become invisible with only their couplings appearing along the track Front Coupler on 7F 2-8-0 locomotive cannot be used - Fix completed Turntables can get out of sync and not align correctly with the surrounding tracks if used erratically AI Trains colliding and ending a scenario through no fault of the players actions Uncoupling at Speed can cause wagons to stop dead, but retain inertia Brakes do not apply when PSI gets below a certain value on Steam Locomotives Manual Junctions should force open if player crosses against switched direction -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- I think there must have been pressure applied by EA, but in fairness to them, they seem to be addressing them ... slowly

And this just come in - read the latest RS FAQ: you will laugh at this
1.1 Do Level Crossings work?
Level Crossings are currently static objects in Rail Simulator so the gates will not animate before or after the train passes.

Although there are many many bugs, look at MSTS out the box, it had just as many.
personally i think its a brilliant game!
Although i was driving one scenario and all of a sudden a train was heading towards me at about 60 mph.

Hiya Jamie
I can't speak for MSTS as I don't have it. I'm going to leave Kuju until some of the "majors" are sorted. Graphically looks lovely though.

Needless to say, I didn't leave it as it was bought for me for Christmas. This is all I play with now (so to speak), a brilliant game.
US version and content to be release later this month along with the first patch.
